Death Toll Rises to 17 After Bus Plunges Into Kerch Strait

At least seventeen people have died after a bus carrying oil workers fell into the Kerch Strait in southern Russia, the state-run RIA Novosti agency reports, citing the Emergency Situations Ministry.

The bus was returning workers home from the Tamanneftegas oil terminal on Friday morning, when it fell into the water at the height of the Volna village in the Krasnodar region, for reasons that are as yet unclear.

According to media reports, the bus was carrying around 40 passengers.Twenty-four people have been rescued.
