Work by one of master class participants

On December 17, the first practical session of the Secrets of Beauty and Creativity museum workshop for children with disabilities was held in Saratov. The training course consisting of 10 classes was developed by the Radishchev State Art Museum with support from Gazprom Transgaz Saratov.

The workshop group includes 10 pupils aged 9 to 15 years from the city’s Boarding School with Adaptive Educational Programs No. 3. Accompanied by their teachers and a guide, the children visited several halls of the museum and learned about its history and the life of its founder Alexey Bogolyubov, Alexander Radishchev’s grandson and marine painter who created the first regional museum open to the public. The pupils were given a chance to admire a part of the extensive collection, including a special tactile model of a bas-relief depicting sections of Alexey Bogolyubov’s painting “Fishermen in Treport.”

The children were told about the techniques of mixing paints and composing images. Then the young visitors were invited to copy the painting presented before them. Each of them delivered fascinating results.

According to the museum staff, visually impaired visitors need special ways of receiving information, which is why this joint project was set up. It helps visitors not only hone their fine motor skills, but also develop their creative thinking.
