Gazprom broadening cooperation with domestic manufacturers of high-tech equipment

A number of agreements relating to the manufacturing of cutting-edge high-technology equipment for Gazprom were signed today at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum 2019.

Alexey Miller, Chairman of the Gazprom Management Committee, and Sergey Chemezov, Director General of the state-owned Rostec Corporation, signed a Cooperation Agreement.

The document identifies the priority areas of interaction between the parties. The companies plan, inter alia, to create a standardized 25 MW gas compressor unit and new modifications of gas turbine engines, to launch the manufacture of LNG storage, transportation and loading equipment, and to design modular power plants with diesel and gas-fueled reciprocating engines. The parties will also cooperate to expand the uses of composite materials and other state-of-the-art structural materials, to promote the application of digital technologies, and to deal with the challenges of technological development and import substitution.

A Memorandum of Understanding was signed by Alexey Miller and Yan Novikov, Chairman of the Management Board, Director General of the Almaz-Antey Corporation.

In accordance with the document, Almaz-Antey will consider the possibility of launching the production of reciprocating compressor units ranging in capacity from 100 kW to 4,000 kW. The units are used in the construction of NGV infrastructure and form part of gas compressor units and modular compressor stations. At present, equipment of this type is not produced in Russia on a batch basis.

An Agreement of Intent was inked by Vitaly Markelov, Deputy Chairman of the Gazprom Management Committee, and Alexander Artyukhov, Director General of the United Engine Corporation (UEC, part of the state-owned Rostec Corporation).

The signing ceremony took place in the presence of Alexey Miller, Chairman of the Gazprom Management Committee.

Pursuant to the document, UEC is going to design and launch the output of a high-performance 25 MW gas turbine engine of the AL-41ST-25 type for use in gas compressors at Gazprom’s gas transmission facilities.

A Memorandum of Intent was signed by Vitaly Markelov, Tagir Nigmatulin, President of REP Holding, and Lorenzo Simonelli, Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Baker Hughes, a GE company (BHGE), on behalf of Nuovo Pignone International S.r.l. (part of BHGE).

The signing ceremony took place in the presence of Alexey Miller, Chairman of the Gazprom Management Committee.

The parties will explore the possibility of joining efforts in designing a 120 MW gas turbine unit, as well as arranging for its subsequent commercial production in Russia. Units of this type are used in large-scale LNG production and electric power generation.
