On 2 June 2017, Mr Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of the Republic of India, made a visit to the State Hermitage.

The delegation was met on the Council Staircase by Georgy Vadimovich Vilinbakhov, Deputy General Director of the State Hermitage for Research.

During the official visit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi acquainted himself with the state rooms of the Winter Palace and viewed the permanent displays of European art.

After the introduction to the history of the Hermitage buildings and collections, there was an exchange of commemorative gifts and Narendra Modi signed the distinguished visitors’ book.

The delegation from the Republic of India visited the Hermitage within the framework of the St Petersburg International Economic Forum 2017.
