Like all the towns in the Russia the aspect of Nizhniy-Novgorod has fundamentally changed. One must see the city to appreciate what has taken place here. The best time for a visit is the summer when the two great rivers — the Oka and the Volga form a shimmering expanse of interlocked waters by the foot of the town. In the summer everything here is sunshine and blue skies. Travellers come up to the Volga from all parts of the country, some on pleasure bent, but all to admire the scenic beauties of this ancient river.
Thus the trip on the Volga begins by the lovely hills of the wonderful city meritedly bearing the name of that great writer Nizhniy-Novgorod .
