On November 5, 2019, Director General of ROSATOM Alexey Likhachev and the Minister in charge of the upgrade of the Paks NPP János Süli visited the construction site of Paks-2 NPP.
During the visit, the parties discussed the implementation of the project, and also held a meeting with the participation of employees of ROSATOM branch in Paks.
“To date, the project for the construction of new units at Paks NPP is at the stage of preparing licensing documentation. More than 120 employees of Atomstroyexport and Atomproekt branch together with Hungarian partners work on the project daily. It is important to note that a month ago, the customer, the Paks-2 project company, adopted a technical plan, this is an important milestone for obtaining a license for the construction of new power units,” said Alexey Likhachev.
“We are convinced that the Russian general contractor will fully comply with all Hungarian, European and international nuclear safety requirements. The Paks-2 NPP project is truly international, as evidenced by the participation of large companies such as General Electric, which will supply turbines and the French-German consortium Framatome-Siemens, which together with Rosatom’s subsidiary RASU will supply process control systems. Moreover, today about 400 licenses have already been obtained, including the license for the use of the construction site and the environmental license,” said János Süli.
In these days, on November 6-7, a public forum will be held in the cities of Hungary devoted to the development of nuclear technologies. The event is aimed at building a dialogue between nuclear industry experts, authorities, experts, ecologists, and the public. At the initiative of the Hungarian side, ROSATOM is helping to organize the event, and representatives of the company, the cities of ROSATOM’s presence and Russian public organizations will share their experience in environmental control and transparency in the implementation of large infrastructure projects.
