The Gazprom Management Committee took note of the information about the ongoing efforts for ensuring the technological independence of the processing complex of Gazprom.
It was noted that it is an activity of strategic importance for Gazprom to develop the processing of gas and other hydrocarbons in Russia. The Company is carrying out this work with the active use of the Russian scientific and industrial potential. The newly created advanced equipment and materials are employed for further efficient functioning of the existing capacities and implementation of new projects.
For instance, during St. Petersburg International Gas Forum 2024, a new condensate de-ethanization unit (UDK-1) was put into operation at the Urengoy Condensate Treatment Plant. All equipment used in the unit is of Russian make. For the first time ever in Russia, an advanced domestic distributed control and emergency protection system for hydrocarbon processing units is employed at UDK-1.
At the existing enterprises of Gazprom, worn-out foreign equipment is being consistently replaced with modern Russian equivalents during scheduled routine maintenance and overhauls.
The Company is also expanding the use of Russia-made catalysts and sorbents, the substances that make hydrocarbon feedstock processing more efficient. For example, catalysts of Russian make have been successfully used for hydrotreatment of diesel fraction at the Astrakhan Gas Processing Plant since 2023. In terms of their technological parameters, including lifetime, the domestic catalysts surpass the foreign analogues.
Gazprom’s head R&D center Gazprom VNIIGAZ has developed a technology to remove organosulfur compounds from the produced liquefied petroleum gases. The degree of purification potentially possible is considerably higher than that stipulated by Russian and international standards.

Gazprom carries out its hydrocarbon processing activities at the Amur, Astrakhan, Orenburg, and Sosnogorsk Gas Processing Plants, as well as at the Orenburg Helium Plant, the Surgut Condensate Stabilization Plant, the Urengoy Condensate Treatment Plant, and the capacities of Gazprom Neftekhim Salavat.
