Dear visitors! June 6 welcome to the lecture “Between the Greeks and the Arabs.” Early medieval art the Middle Asiais cycle “Archeology: journey through time”.
After a tumultuous political events of the III-V centuries ad, which were partly associated with the “Great migration of peoples” in the territory of Central Asia there is a period of relative stabilization. One of the main reasons for these changes was the existence at this time, almost throughout the Eurasian steppe, a huge nomad state – the Turkic Khanate. The Turks controlled the “silk road” for much of the route from China to the borders of Iran. In this time period to VI-VII centuries the highest prosperity regions of Central Asia, especially Sogdiana (now Uzbekistan and Tajikistan). Here it formed a kind of culture, which we know from the works of monumental narrative painting and sculpture.
