More than 40 students and teachers from Slovakia paid a familiarization visit to Novovoronezh NPP. The visit was supported by ROSATOM.
The foreign guests visited the Atomic Energy Information Center in Voronezh and then headed to the viewing point of innovative power units of Novovoronezh NPP. A NRNU MEPhI senior lecturer gave a lecture to students and their teachers on the role of atomic energy in the contemporary world.
“High school students from different cities of Slovakia have come to Novovoronezh NPP. They are united by the fact of attending schools with in-depth study of the Russian language and advancing their level at the IV Annual Seminar “The Russian Language as a Tool of Studying History and Culture of Central Russia” at the Voronezh State Pedagogical University. This year, our school was visited by representatives of NRNU MEPhI; the students showed interest in nuclear power. When the children knew that there was a nuclear power plant near Voronezh, they wanted to see it with their own eyes”, Adriana Lauffova, a the Russian language and literature teacher of the Milan Rastislav Štefánik School, said.
“We familiarized our guests with basics of nuclear power and with the educational program in technology-related universities in Russia for foreign students, including NRNU MEPhI. We have successful cooperation experience with Slovakia in this area already: last year, a Slovak student successfully did the English-speaking Master’s program”, Yuri Volkov, Senior Lecturer of Chair of the Theoretical and Experimental Physics of Nuclear Reactors at NRNU MEPhI, added.
The visit ended by having a look at the full-scope simulator of innovative power units in the International Center for Personnel Training.
