News from projects and regions
On July 18, the Astrakhan State Art Gallery named after Pavel Dogadin launched the anniversary season of the art project named ‘Museum Courtyard 2019’ in Astrakhan. Since its creation, the project, which unites admirers of music, painting, literature and art of declamation, has attracted about eight thousand Astrakhan citizens of all ages.
At the opening of the 2019 season, which took place in a temporary outdoor auditorium set up in the courtyard of the Astrakhan State Art Gallery named after Pavel Dogadin, the guests were greeted by Irina Perova, Director of the Gallery.
The event’s program named ‘Opening’ enabled the visitors to get acquainted with the wood sculptures created by Alexander Kosykhin and the works of Astrakhan painters Fakhrikamal Makhmudova and Zokhra Alieva, enjoy a virtuoso performance of pop and folk hits delivered by the Selskiye Residenty (‘Village Residents’) music band, and see two exhibitions – ‘Collection of Times. Leningrad School of Painting’ (for the first time on display in Astrakhan) and ‘Painting – Reload. 21st Century’ (by modern Moscow painters). The art epigraph for the opening event was a replica of the famous painting ‘A Street in Plyous’ (original painting is in the main exhibition hall) by Astrakhan painter Petr Kotov (1880–1953), Professor, Honored Art Worker of Russia. A master class was held for children, and easels were specially installed so that all visitors could demonstrate their painting talents. At the end of the event, children were awarded prizes for the best artworks created.
During the entire summer and early autumn, the Museum Courtyard 2019 art project will offer new creative programs to the residents of Astrakhan every week.
