Paris – PhosAgro (Moscow Exchange, LSE: PHOR) (“PhosAgro”, the “Company”), one of the world’s leading vertically integrated phosphate-based fertilizer producers, announces that it has been awarded the Gold Medal from the International Fertilizer Association (IFA) for its responsible approach to production.
The IFA’s first ever gold medal awards ceremony took place at the IFA Annual Strategic Forum in Paris on 20 November 2019. The award was presented by Chairman of IFA’s Executive Board Mostafa Terrab to PhosAgro CEO Andrey Guryev.
The decision to distinguish companies that participated in all of IFA’s recent studies on production safety, atmospheric emissions and energy efficiency was made by IFA during the Annual Conference in Montreal in June 2019. The IFA award is an indication of PhosAgro’s success in establishing the best corporate practices in these areas.
The gold medal, which had been awarded to PhosAgro by IFA, emphasised the company’s commitment to constantly improving and implementing best available techniques in areas like energy efficiency and resource consumption, as well as workplace safety and environmental production.
At PhosAgro’s production complex in Cherepovets in 2018, four studies were conducted using the IFA methodology in the fields of energy efficiency and carbon dioxide emissions, environmental indicators, labor safety indicators, and a survey of employees of the company on occupational health and safety. In addition, Apatit JSC was certifed according to the Protect & Sustain standard with the highest possible rating.
“Occupational health and safety for our employees, contractors and suppliers is one of our key objectives, as well as an important component of PhosAgro’s sustainable development strategy. The result of work in this area has been a 76% decrease of LTIFR over the past five years, yet we still aim to achieve a level of zero.
“PhosAgro takes a very responsible approach to environmental issues, considering them the basis for implementing the company’s sustainable development strategy. In 2018, PhosAgro invested about RUB 8 billion on projects aimed at reducing its environmental impact. Today, all of the Company’s production sites meet the strictest requirements of current environmental legislation,” commented Andrei Guryev, CEO of PhosAgro, on the IFA gold medal.
