Release
The Program for standardization of developing technologies and equipment in oil refining, petrochemistry, and natural gas processing and liquefaction (LNG), particularly for projects on gravity-based structures with LNG production trains and for gas carriers transporting LNG, was signed today at the Arctic: Territory of Dialogue 5th International Arctic Forum in St. Petersburg.
The signing ceremony took place in the presence of Alexey Miller, Chairman of the Gazprom Management Committee.
The document was signed by Vitaly Markelov, Chairman of the Technical Committee for Standardization (TC 23) “Oil and Gas Industry” and Deputy Chairman of the Gazprom Management Committee, Alexey Besprozvannykh, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, and Alexey Abramov, Head of the Russian Federal Agency for Technical Regulation and Metrology.
The Program is to be implemented in the period up to 2023. Under this document, uniform standards based on modern requirements will be developed and established at the national level. The standards will govern the design and manufacturing of equipment and structural materials for medium- and large-scale LNG production and for petrochemical and oil & gas processing facilities.
Background
Gazprom is the basic organization for the National Technical Committee for Standardization “Oil and Gas Industry.” The Committee develops Russian standards related to hydrocarbon production, transportation and processing equipment and technologies, as well as harmonizes international standards for the domestic oil and gas industry.
In 2018, national technical committees signed an Agreement of Cooperation at the 8th St. Petersburg International Gas Forum. The document is aimed at implementing the state-run Program for standardization of developing technologies and equipment in oil refining, petrochemistry, and natural gas processing and liquefaction.
