April 16, 2019 – On the sidelines of the XI International Forum ATOMEXPO-2019, Rusatom Automated Control Systems, Joint-Stock Company (RASU JSC) and DEF ENERGIE ET ENVIRONNEMENT (France) signed the Memorandum of Understanding in the area of development and life cycle support of fire protection instrumentation and control systems for nuclear power plants.
The document was signed by Mr. Andrey Butko, Chief Executive Officer, RASU JSC, and Mr. Jerome Flick, an authorized representative of DEF ENERGIE ET ENVIRONNEMENT.
The Memorandum secures the intention of the parties to consider the joint participation in Paks II NPP (Hungary) and Akkuyu NPP (Turkey) construction projects in terms of FP I&C, and the readiness to prepare a partnership agreement (to be signed later).
Within the agreements reached, the parties are planning to establish a permanent working group (with monthly meetings) in order to assess and select joint projects. Moreover, the delegation of RASU JSC will visit the factory and the headquarters of the French partner in the end of May this year, and discuss the details of cooperation there.
“Collaboration with such a well-known partner as DEF, a long-established company in the international market of fire safety systems, gives us a strong partner for implementation of the overseas projects of Rosatom. Together we will be able to offer high-quality products in due time under a challenging licensing and qualification framework imposed by national regulatory bodies of the countries where NPPs are built,” Andrey Butko said.
“In relation with our continuous development on international nuclear projects, we are very glad to move forward in our collaboration with RASU and in our approach to VVER reactor technology. We believe that this cooperation will help to better understand the specificities of the technology and requirements for the fire protection and, in the end, deliver reliable solutions to ensure the safety and long-term operation of the projects. Considering the potential and appreciation of Rosatom reactors around the world, having an experienced and valuable partner such as RASU by our side is a real chance.” Jerome Flick noted.
