ROSATOM and Rostechnadzor signed a supplementary agreement on development of nuclear infrastructure in the “newcomer” countries

ROSATOM and the Federal Service for Environmental, Industrial and Nuclear Supervision (Rostechnadzor) signed a supplementary agreement on interaction for support of the nuclear infrastructure development in the “newcomer” foreign countries on June, 15, 2023 in St.Petersburg on the sidelines of St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.

Alexey Likhachev, Director General, signed the document on behalf of ROSATOM, and Alexander Trembitsky, Head of the Service, on behalf of Rostechnadzor.

The supplementary agreement specifies the mechanisms for coordination of efforts between ROSATOM and Rostechnadzor in order to provide assistance in development of nuclear infrastructure components to the countries building or planning to commence building of any nuclear facilities according to the Russian design based on internationally recognized safety standards. Rusatom Service JSC and Rosatom Technical Academy are appointed as the authorized organizations for implementation of the agreement on the part of ROSATOM.

The coordination agreement between ROSATOM and Rostechnadzor concerning provision of assistance in deployment or improvement of the national nuclear power engineering infrastructure in the countries building or planning to commence building of any nuclear facilities according to the Russian design was signed on October, 2, 2012.

ROSATOM offers an integrated solution to the foreign customers which provides access to the whole range of products and services within the entire NPP lifecycle. It includes not only construction of an NPP itself with the use of the Russian technologies but also deployment and development of the nuclear infrastructure in the country; assistance in development of the relevant regulatory framework; training and professional development of the national human resources; involvement of the local industry into the project; fuel supply and the NPP maintenance; assistance in its operation; spent nuclear fuel (SNF) management; assurance of public acceptance of nuclear power engineering.
