On 15 April 2019, Rosatom State Corporation and the Pipe Metallurgical Company (TMK) signed a cooperation agreement during the 11th ATOMEXPO 2019 International Forum in Sochi
The document was signed by Kirill Komarov, First Deputy Director General of the State Atomic Energy Corporation Rosatom, First Deputy CEO of Corporate Development & International Business, and Alexander Shiryaev, CEO of TMK.
The parties agreed to cooperate in the production and application of high-tech pipe products, including joint development of new types of steel pipes. In addition, the document outlines strategic areas for joint activities in the field of import substitution and cooperation in the implementation of promising projects in both Russian and international markets. In particular, this includes scientific and technical cooperation in the development of new technical standards, research and development (R&D) on the creation of new steel grades and modification of steel product surfaces.
The agreement provides for the implementation of a roadmap for cooperation, which envisages the exchange of information on the needs and interest in existing and future products, the formation of a list of R&D activities, and the use of the scientific, technical and production potential of TMK and Rosatom State Corporation within the framework of strategic areas of cooperation. The roadmap also provides for the establishment of working groups and various joint activities.
“The signed agreement reflects practically significant work on expanding the existing cooperation in the field of technologies and solutions for the nuclear industry into other areas of activity. Scientific research, design, development and implementation of the latest technologies and production of innovative products are key areas for Rosatom, not only for nuclear markets, and within this framework we see opportunities for synergy with TMK’s competencies,” noted Mr Komarov.
“Being innovative and high-tech companies, TMK and Rosatom have many common approaches in the scientific, technical and production spheres. I am confident that the progressive development of our relations will lead to the creation of unique products and the development of breakthrough solutions that are in demand in Russia and abroad. The agreement signed today between TMK and Rosatom formalizes active work in a number of areas where cooperation is already being implemented in practice,” stated Alexander Shiryaev.
