ROSATOM and VTB have concluded the agreement on the cooperation to implement Arctic projects. The agreement was signed on the sidelines of the Petersburg International Economic Forum.
Deputy Director General and Director of Directorate of the Northern Sea Route Vyacheslav Ruksha signed the agreement for ROSATOM and Vice President and Chairman of the Board of Bank VTB Valery Lukyanenko signed the document for VTB.
The document provides for active assistance in programs securing safe navigation in waters of the Northern Sea Route; joint work to increase freight shipment volumes via the Northern Sea Route; and provision of a broad range of high quality banking services to Arctic projects.
Vyacheslav Ruksha said: “This year, for the first time, the contract for building two nuclear icebreakers of Project 22220 under the mixed financing scheme will be signed. A part of the amount will be allocated from the federal budget and the rest of it will be own funds of ROSATOM and borrowed resources of banks. The cooperation with Bank VTB opens extensive prospects for development of infrastructures of the Northern Sea Route and Arctic territories.”
Valery Lukyanenko noted: “The cooperation of Bank VTB and ROSATOM’s companies in such important area as development of the Arctic territories and Northern Sea Route is of strategic nature, has high potential and is mutually beneficial for both the parties of the signed agreement and the country as a whole.”
