In early August, the pilot training course “Operational management of Engineering and Technical Means of Physical Protection Complex” for representatives of the Ruppur NPP security service (People’s Republic of Bangladesh) was completed at the Rosatom Technical Academy.
The course was prepared by specialists of the Global Nuclear Safety and Security Instituite (GNSSI) of the Rosatom Technical Academy. During the month, students were lectured and taught practical skills in monitoring the operational situation at the facility, working with various programs, creating databases, acting in emergency situations and other topics. Practical classes were held using stands and equipment developed by ROSATOM organizations.
“During the course, we gained unique knowledge and practical skills that will undoubtedly help us in further work at the facility. We are grateful to the highly qualified teachers from Russia for the experience they shared with us,” said S. M. Fahad Ahmad, the head of the group, representative of the security service of the Ruppur NPP.
The students, for their part, proposed a number of measures to improve the educational process. For example, the organization of additional classes in Russian for Bangladesh students before training.
Director of the GNSSI Egor Bologov thanked all participants of the course for fruitful cooperation. “You are the first to operate the physical protection system of your first nuclear power plant. It will be a difficult and very interesting process. But, working in a single team with specialists of the State Corporation «Rosatom», we will achieve good results,” he said.
For reference:
The Ruppur NPP with two VVER-1200 reactors with a total capacity of 2,400 MW is being built according to a Russian project 160 km from the capital of Bangladesh, Dhaka. A Russian project with VVER-1200 reactors has been selected for the country’s first nuclear power plant, successfully implemented at two power units of the Novovoronezh NPP. This is an evolutionary project of generation III+, which fully meets international safety and security requirements.
The GNSSI of the Rosatom Technical Academy is a leading educational institution for training specialists of state bodies, nuclear and radiation hazardous facilities in Russia and abroad.
ROSATOM offers foreign customers a comprehensive solution that provides access to the entire range of products and services throughout the life of the NPP.
