The Memorandum of Understanding between Rosenergoatom JSC, Rosatom Technical Academy Independent Non-Profit Organization for Continuing Professional Education (INO CPE) and the Agency for Nuclear Power Engineering Development at the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Uzbekistan (Uzatom Agency) was signed on July 13.
Zhurabek Mirzamakhmudov, Chief Executive Officer of Uzatom Agency, signed the Memorandum on the part of Uzbekistan, and Andrey Petrov, Chief Executive Officer of Rosenergoatom Concern JSC, and Yuri Seleznev, President of Rosatom Technical Academy – on the part of Russia.
Cooperation is aimed to develop the national nuclear infrastructure of Uzbekistan as well as to enhance awareness of the general public with regard to nuclear technologies and their application. This agreement is focused on implementation of cooperation in several areas; special attention will be paid to the training program for teachers in Uzbekistan, arrangement and performance of technical tours to the Russian nuclear power plants as well as apprenticeship in the Russian NPP training centers including visits to full-scale simulators and laboratories. Besides, the Memorandum provides for participation of Uzbek specialists in the joint activities of Rosatom Technical Academy and the IAEA.
This cooperation will enable Uzbekistan to obtain expert support of Rosatom Technical Academy in training of specialists for all stages of the national nuclear program implementation.
Subsequent to signing the parties will proceed with implementation of some joint arrangements. The nearest of them include participation of Uzbek specialists in the IAEA Research Reactor Training to be held in St. Petersburg in August.
