Russia and Mali signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in peaceful use of nuclear energy

On October 13, 2023, N.N. Spassky, Deputy Director General for International Relations of Rosatom, met with a delegation from the Republic of Mali which arrived in Moscow to participate in the 6th Russian Energy Week Forum. The delegation was headed by A. Sanou, Minister of Economy and Finance.

The meeting was held at Rosatom, and it was also attended by B. Camara, Minister of Energy and Water Resources, M. Diallo, Minister of Industry and Commerce, and M. Dembele, Minister of Transport and Infrastructure.

The outlook for cooperation between the two countries in exploration and mining of minerals and in the peaceful use of nuclear energy was discussed in detail.

Nikolay Spassky and Bintou Camara signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in the peaceful use of nuclear energy. The memorandum outlines both the priority tasks and instruments of cooperation, as well as areas of mutual interest for joint work. These are development of the nuclear infrastructure of the Republic of Mali, raising public awareness of nuclear technology, fundamental and applied research, use of radioisotopes, nuclear, radiation safety and security, personnel training, nuclear research facilities, and nuclear power.

There is an agreement to have an exchange of technical tours.
