The generator stator is installed in its design position at Rooppur NPP Unit 1 (Bangladesh)

On April 5, installation of the generator stator in its design position has been completed successfully in the turbine hall of Rooppur NPP Unit 1 (ROSATOM Engineering Division being the general designer and general contractor). The works were performed by specialists of VdMU LLC branch office in the People’s Republic of Bangladesh.

The generator stator is the main element of turbine unit electrical equipment, which is designed for conversion of mechanical power received from the turbine to the electric power.

“The generator stator is the heaviest element of the power unit equipment with the total weight exceeding 440 tons. Completion of its installation in the design position allows us to proceed with full-scale works on installation of the turbine hall main equipment”, noted Alexey Deriy, Vice President of ASE JSC – Project Director for Rooppur NPP Construction, speaking of importance of the event.

The turbine generator TZV-1200-2 was developed and manufactured by Power Machines JSC. The advantages of this type of turbine generators are fire safety, enhanced reliability, high overload capacity due to low heating and vibration levels, lack of shaft oil seals, fans and gas coolers built in the stator.

For reference:

Rooppur NPP equipped with two VVER-1200 reactors of the total 2,400 MW capacity is being constructed under the Russian design160 km from Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh, in accordance with General Contract dated December 25, 2015. The Russian design with VVER-1200 reactors was selected for the first NPP in Bangladesh, which was successfully implemented at two units of Novovoronezh NPP. This is an evolutionary Generation III+ design which fully complies with all the international safety requirements.
