PAO Severstal, one of the world’s leading vertically integrated steel and
steel-related mining companies, has supplied a multi-product (package) order of
large-diameter pipes (LDP) to Bulgaria.
The pipes were ordered for Bulgartransgaz’s Novaya Provadia compressor
station project, which is currently under construction by the company
Glavbolgarstroy AD.
The LDPs are coated in three-layers of polyethylene, in line with regulation
DIN 30670 and are made using L450ME grade steel with a diameter of 1016 mm and
wall thicknesses of 15.9 mm and 19.1 mm. They were produced at the Izhora Pipe
Mill (ITZ), part of Severstal’s Russian Steel Division.
The package shipment also included a large-diameter pipes manufactured by
Severstal’s partner Liberty Tubular Products Galati S.A., in Romania. This
included LDP with a diameter of 609.6 mm and a wall thickness of 12.7 mm, as
well as 508 mm diameter LDP with a wall thickness of 11.1 mm.
The large diameter pipes were produced at the Izhora Pipe Mill production
site in the Kolpino District of St. Petersburg, and were then transported to
Bulgaria by trucks, as well as Liberty’s pipes.
Alexander Semenov, Sales Director for the Energy Sector at
Severstal, commented:
“Severstal has successfully supplied large diameter pipes to the European
market for some time, including to Bulgaria. However, this particular shipment
represents the first complex delivery of its kind. We intend to further
strengthen our position in the European market, by offering our customers a
wide variety of high-quality additional services.”
