One more batch of equipment for Rooppur NPP that is under construction in the People’s Republic of Bangladesh (general designer and general contractor is Rosatom’s Engineering Division) has been delivered from Russia to the sea port of Mongla.
About 1 200 tons of industrial equipment has been transported on the MV Aparajitа vessel. The vessel has already been unloaded, and the equipment will arrive at the NPP construction site in March. Last month over 2 700 thousand tons of Russian equipment for Rooppur NPP was delivered to Bangladesh on two vessels.
“Supply of equipment, among other things, ensures the readiness of the process systems for flushing of safety systems with the open reactor of Power Unit 1”, said Alexey Deriy, Vice President of ASE JSC – Director of Rooppur NPP Construction Project.
Rooppur NPP equipped with two VVER-1200 reactors of the total 2400 MW capacity is being constructed under the Russian design 160 km from Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh, in accordance with General Contract dated December 25, 2015. The Russian design with VVER-1200 reactors that had been successfully implemented at two units of Novovoronezh NPP was selected for the first NPP in Bangladesh. This is an evolutionary Generation III+ design which fully complies with all the international safety requirements.
Russia is consistently developing international trade and economic relations, focusing on cooperation with friendly countries. Despite external restrictions, the domestic economy is augmenting its export potential to supply goods, services and raw materials all over the world.
