Rosenergoatom has acquired new competencies at the wind power market

AO ‘Atomtekhenergo’ (an affiliate of the Rosenergoatom Joint-Stock Company) has completed their flagship facility commissioning service delivery at the largest wind power plant in Russia, the Adyghe WPP located on the border of the Shovgenovskiy and Giaginskiy districts in the Adyghe Republic. 

In the context of inter-divisional cooperation between AO ‘Atomtekhenergo’ (ATE) and AO ‘VetroOGK’ (a company managed by AO NovaWind), the team from the ATE Rostov office was delivering services during the period of November 2019 – April 2020. The service package comprised full-cycle management facilitation of commissioning activities as well as construction control and maintenance, participation in warranty tests of integrated transformer substations, review and analysis of any issues identified during the commissioning work, methodological support for the operating staff, such as providing recommendations on top of the operational manuals for the wind power plant equipment. 

‘Setting our foot into areas close to nuclear power market is one of the primary areas for the Rosenergoatom business. Since AO ‘Atomtekhenergo’ has strong experience launching nuclear and conventional power facilities, it has managed to successfully deliver on its commitments and acquite new competency while working on a wind power facility. Atomtekhenergo plans to continue working on such projects and to extend its list of activities when constructing wind power facilities’, Yuriy Markov, the CEO at AO ‘Atomtekhenergo’, said. 

The Adyghe WPP is the first fully completed project for AO ‘NovaWind’ (a division of Rosatom in charge of wind power projects). Currently, Rosatom is working on the WPP construction projects at four other sites in the Stavropol Krai and the Rostov region. 

The next major wind power park is to emerge in the Kochubeevskiy district of the Stavropol Krai, and its designed capacity will be 210 megawatt. In total, Rosatom plans to launch a number of wind power plant stations with the total capacity of 1 GW by 2023.
