Aug. 23 marks 30 years since the Baltic Way protest, when 2 million people in Soviet Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania joined hands to create a 600-kilometer “human chain.”
The peaceful protest was held on the 50th anniversary of the Molotov-Ribbentrop pact to demand independence from the U.S.S.R.
