The number of Russian kids adopted by foreign citizens in 2016 declined to a third of what it was in 2013, Chief Justice of the Russian Supreme Court Vyacheslav Lebedev said addressing a seminar meeting by the presidents of federal courts.
“In 2016, courts made 13,500 rulings concerning adoption. As before, preference was given to Russian citizens. Over the year, as many as 430 court rulings were made on adoptions by foreign nationals, which is a third of what it was in 2013,” Lebedev said.
