A young Russian couple on vacation and a skydiving instructor were among the 157 people killed in an Ethiopian Airlines crash on Sunday, Russian media have reported.
There were no survivors aboard the Boeing 737 jet carrying passengers from more than 30 countries from Addis Ababa to Nairobi, Kenya, the airline said. Ethiopia’s parliament declared Monday a day of mourning for those killed in the crash.
Among those killed were Yekaterina and Alexander Polyakov, the state-run RIA Novosti news agency reported Monday, citing Sberbank, where the couple had worked.
“Yekaterina and Alexander went on vacation to Africa, which was so tragically cut short,” the bank’s press service was quoted as saying.
The couple hailed from the southern city of Taganrog near Russia’s border with Ukraine, the news agency cited the city’s administration as saying.
Skydiving instructor Sergei Vyalikov from the city of Tver, 200 kilometers northwest of Moscow, was also on board the ill-fated flight, a regional sport parachuting group told the state-run TASS news agency.
