The monument by the sculptor I. Y. Gintsburg was unveiled in 1925.
The vicinity of the Technological Institute is associated with the name of G. V. Plekhanov, one of the founders of the Russian Socialist-Democratic Party. Opposite the Institute is the former Konstantinovsky Artillery School where Plekhanov studied in 1873—1874; not far from here, at the corner of 4th Red Army Street and Moscovsky Prospect, stands the Plekhanov House, where the works written by this prominent Russian Marxist have been collected.
