The cottage of the founder of the city was the first dwelling house in Petersburg. It was erected in May 1703, and has been kept in its original state up to the present day. In 1784 a stone shelter was built over the cottage to protect it from decay. The permanent exhibition in the cottage consists of genuine objects of Peter I’s epoch.
